Networking

While online networking might not come as "natural" as in person networking, it is, in my opinion, a valid option. Specially in a group like this one, where new members join, and such a variety of businesses are represented. Please feel free to take advantage of this - greet new members, email them, send comments, post pictures or videos, meet in person! Speaking of which - anyone interested of a person-to-person meeting? Continue

Success Or Failure? It's Up To You.

I've written about this before - that you should have a plan and goals if you're attending a business expo as a vendor. Figure out prior to the Expo who you'd like to meet, how many connections you'd like to make, and - most importantly -what your follow up should be. I've been to another expo this past week, and while there were some new vendors, not much of the 'behavior' has changed. Vendors offering free stuff, business cards and drawings. But it's been 4 days and so far - no follow up. I… Continue

Regarding the decision to meet face to face for networking, and possible training purposes - please let me know - what works for you? We have an offer from Alex - Thank you! - to meet at his office for maybe a brown bag lunch? Would that work for everyone? How about on a Wednesday for lunch? If that does not work for you - please give us a couple of options to work with! Also - aside f… Continue

What are YOUR Top Five?

Reality is - you can sign up for new sites daily. You put up your resume...and sometimes, that's all you'll ever do on that particular site. But not all sites are like that - some grab your attention and you become involved. You answer questions, put up notes, events, blogs...make new contacts, search for people, etc. Those are the sites that will give back the most - because you're involved. If you'd have to choose your top 5 sites like that - where you spend the most time, are the most invo… Continue

Featured Members (If you'd like to be featured - please add a photo or logo to your profile - Thanks!)

New options have been added by Ning - one of them being the opportunity to feature members on the member site. I've decided that I'd feature members randomly on the member page, so we can get to - virtually - know each other. While you're being featured, go ahead and tell us about your business, yourself, your wants, needs, goals, etc - anything you'd like to share! Continue

Is Going Green Part Of Your Business Plan?

Just wondering - have you made any plans to incorporate "going green" into your business planning? Anything from recycling to buying environmentally friendly products and reducing waste? If so - what prompted you to make the change? How do you incorporate it? And how do you motivate your employees to follow suit? If you were to be able to support a local business - would you choose one that is focused on being environmentally friendly over a "regular" business with anything else (service, prod… Continue

Social Networks becoming smaller?

Do you believe that we're moving from giant global networks like Facebook, Plaxo and MySpace to more focused "nice" networks like the ones on Ning? Lately I've seen more activity on niche sites like Ning, than on the "big boys of social networks". I guess that would only make sense - you can choose your topics, be more personal, target your audience, even gear a site toward your clientely (current and future business) - all with the same options that are offered by the large networks, without t… Continue

Yes? No? If your answer is yes - please share: 1. How do you think social media will 'come together' to help others? 2. Share your idea: What could groups do to help? 3. Where should groups help? 4. And where could they have the biggest impact? If your answer is no: Please clarify why… Continue
